C-Frame Presses

C-frame presses are metal presses that are open in the front, creating a “C” shape that gives the machine its name. While most C-frame presses are hydraulic c presses, meaning they use hydraulic pressure to exert force, some C-frame presses are mechanical presses that are operated manually. With their unique c-shaped design, C-frame presses allow for more work flexibility, with three open access points for adjusting dies and removing finished parts. Their open front also allows for easy access to the working area, making it simple to load and unload materials. Manufactured from top brands, including Baileigh Industrial, C-frame presses are a key part of the metalworking machinery applications for many industries.

A Stamp of Approval for C-Frame Hydraulic Presses

C-frame presses, or gap-frame presses as they are sometimes referred to, have a variety of benefits that make them popular in manufacturing. Designed to take up less floor space than other types of metal presses, C-frame hydraulic presses are ideal for smaller workshops and operations. They are, in general, also less expensive than other types of industrial presses. Because of their unique design, hydraulic c presses are also able to easily handle a variety of material shapes and sizes, which makes them well suited to numerous different metalworking tasks. One of the most common applications for C-frame presses is stamping, where a press tool (also known as a die) is used to shape parts from an inserted piece of sheet metal such as stainless steel, copper, or aluminum. A ram pushes the sheet metal through the die, creating the desired shape. Other common metalworking tasks that C-frame presses are often used for include embossing, crimping, and piercing.
